So Lush, I kept it for myself....
I’ve slightly adopted the can’t stop won’t stop attitude to
shopping, and seem to be finding amazing Christmas presents, getting them home
and then deciding that I’ll keep them for myself!! Sorry mummy but this post is all about your supposed
lush stocking fillers, that I have adopted as my own, (woops.)
The Lush Dark Angel’s facial cleansing scrub is new to me,
but I love any products that contain charcoal, I feel they remove any impurities
and yucky oil from my skin! This is a fabulous scrub and leaves you feeling
refreshed and clean. The natural ingredient list makes it perfect for my
problematic skin. The only downside to this product is the mess it makes!! Because
it’s basically soot, your bath, shower and sink are left covered in a layer of
black scum, yuck!! So make sure you wipe the surfaces clean after use,
otherwise your partner/flatmate/family might think you’ve been rolling in mud!
There is something extremely exciting about using this
cleanser, the concept of rubbing black clay all over my face, creates a new
dimension of fun to my skincare routine. Whilst being incredibly messy, the
results are pretty impressive, improved oil balance, glowing skin, less blackheads
and amazingly smooth skin!!
Another scrub comes in the form of Santa’s lip scrub….. Lush
are known for creating really good lip scrubs, and although I've come to
realise these are something that can be easily made at home with ingredients
found in the kitchen, it didn't stop me buying this festive product. The strong
smell of cola bottles has provided me with a real dilemma over whether or not
it is acceptable to lick the scrub of my lips. I seem to do be doing this all
the time, without little thought towards the fact I am eating a beauty product,
(what has my life become).
This scrub is Ideal for this time of the year, when the cold
weather creates havoc on our lips. This lip scrub will help keep lips smooth
and soft, whilst prepping them for a Christmas bright red lip!
I may appear incredibly selfish for stealing my lovely
mothers Christmas presents, but hey, great decision. I've found a scrub/cleanser
I will definitely be re-buying and a tasty treat for when my sugar cravings get
too much, what a result.
You can buy these products online here!
Let me know if you've bought a friend a Christmas present
and kept it for yourself?
Have you tried these fab products?

Riding the Waves
Girls, if you have naturally wavy hair and have straightened
your hair in the last day or so, shame on you!!! I would kill for curly hair,
having dead straight hair has become a sad part of my life, stemming from over
exposing my mane to dye and heat. My hair is now lifeless and, well, dead
straight!!
I’m always searching for new tools to create exciting
curls/waves that will add volume and life to my tresses; recently I’ve been
trying a tool by Babyliss, which creates a loose crimped look! I know what you are thinking; I
too rocked the tightly crimped hair at school and regret the decisions,
massively! Do not fear this will look completely different, although the
crimped look has recently come back into fashion, surprisingly!!
Directions for use
1.
Wash your hair with volumizing moisture shampoo
and conditioner, I recommend shampooing twice to make sure you hair is full of
volume and not product build-up. I’m currently using Redkin Clear Moisture,
which helps my hair lock in moisture, (much needed now the weather is getting colder.)
It’s best to style your hair a day or so after your last wash- this way it will
stay put for longer.
2.
After washing, Spritz your damp hair with a
leave in conditioner such as Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance and brush through
with a Tangle Teezer.
3.
Next,
apply a heat protection cream. I can’t stress enough how important it is to
protect your hair from damage caused by styling!! Redkin Satin wear Ultimate
Blow Dry Lotion will do just that, plus it leaves hair soft, shiny and totally
manageable!!
4.
I recommend leaving your hair to dry naturally
overnight, if this is absurd for you continue with your normal blow dry, but
your hair will thank you if you give it a rest and let it dry naturally!
5.
After leaving your hair for a day, brush through
the hair making sure it’s smooth and knot free.
6.
Now we can begin to create fabulous wavy hair,
first tie hair into a loose bun on top of the head, leaving a section of hair underneath,
this will be the first layer to style.
7.
Start at the top of the head and close the tool
around a section of hair, hold for 10 seconds depending on thickness of hair,
and then move down to the next area. Continue this step for the entire layer.
8.
Once you've styled the entire layer, spray with
L’oreal Elnett hairspray,so that this look lasts.
9.
Keep pulling down new layers of hair and
repeating step 7 & 8 until you have finished the entire head of hair.
1.
Ta Da, you should now have silky smooth wavy
hair. Make sure to finish with a shine spray, such as John Frieda 100% shine
glossing mist.
Let me know what you think of this look?
Do you prefer straight or curly hair?

TRU: BEAUTY
It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Tru beauty, a brand
whose skincare products not only look and smell high quality, but the ingredients
couldn't be more luxurious. Sara Jane
Lynch has created a unique brand suitable for all skin types and specifically high maintenance skin.
The brands ethos is believable skincare for unbelievable skin, and the products certainly live up to this! Her understanding of her customer and belief that they deserve a high quality, glamorous product with luxurious packaging, that would look, smell and
feel as gorgeous and glamorous as the products made her feel.
Sarah Jane has created Three skincare products, with the help of
biochemists and skin care experts. All of her products are free from skincare
nasties, there are no unnecessary chemicals in these products, instead they are rich in natural
oils and ingredients which help unlock the secret to fabulous problem free
skin!
Tru: Ultimate Deep Cleanse. 150ml £25
This cleanser smells incredible and certainly does the job
at removing makeover and impurities from the skin. but in a gentle way, by
purifying the skin without stripping it off essential oils! This product
contained unknown ingredients to me, but upon research I found them to be
extremely beneficial, such as the use of Wild Pansy which has healing and cleansing properties. It can be applied with your
fingertips massaging into the skin with circular motion before removing with a
cotton wool pad or equally can be applied as you would a face wash. This cleanser really does seem like a treat when you use and leaves an incredible smell reminiscent of a spa.
Tru: Toning Treatment. 150ml £28
Don’t let a toner scare you away! I know what you are
thinking eeekk squeaky clean skin that is left dry and tight. This is the opposite;
it hydrates, softens and calms the skin. Spritzing the skin before applying the
moisturiser helps prep the skin for being as receptive to the moisturise as possible. The smell of this product
is zesty and refreshing and is ideal as a mid-day spritz to help awaken your
makeup and give your face a much needed refreshment and moisture boost.
Tru: Holy Grail Facial Moisturizer. 30ml £42
Many individuals with high maintenance skin tend to forget
the importance of moisturizer. If you have dry skin, spending money on a good
quality moisturiser is vital, alternatively if you have acne please don’t neglect
moisture, drying the skin out too much will only result in your oil glands over
producing oil to compensate for lost moisture! This moisturiser helps lock in essential
ingredients such as Camellia oil and Shea butter but leaves no gunky residue
sitting on the skin!! Again this product smells and feels so luxurious and is a
pleasant surprise compared to those pharmacy products, which definitely lack in
glamour!!
I've e seen
a tremendous difference in my skin, noticeably the horrible huge spots are healing and no new ones seem to be forming, plus my skin is positively and glowing . My skin feels healthy and rested. I really recommend this brand Sara Jane has suffered herself from ‘high maintenance
skin,’ so she has tested these products until she found a combination of ingredients which worked. Big beauty brands can very quickly and easily
create a product for a certain skin type with little thought, however it takes a lot of
effort, time and compassion to create a brand like Tru beauty. They stay Tru
to the promise of creating a skincare regime you will keep repurchasing for
years to come. Their products have just launched in Fenwicks Bond St. Tru Beauty are holding a customer meet and greet evening on Friday 15th of November in Fenwick Bond St, so I will keep you updated regarding times.

Honey Coco- Homemade Lip Exfoliator
Nowadays beauty products are loaded with chemicals claiming
to accomplish a range of different miracles, but what really are these ingredients…
sometimes its best to strip your beauty back to basics whilst having fun at the
same time making homemade beauty products!
Ideal for a girly night in, homemade products are simple and
free of added chemicals!! I spend 70% of my week wearing some kind of lipstick,
and whilst they claim to moisturize my lips still always seem to look a bit
worse for wear at the end of the day. I rely on my Honey Coco lip exfoliator to
remove any dead skin and keep my lips moisturised soft and, well, kissable!
Ingredients in Honey Coco
Coconut Oil
The helps strengthens
underlying tissue and contains antioxidants that help skin cell regeneration
but most importantly its moisturising and has antibacterial and anti-fungal
properties stopping spots from forming around your lips.
Sugar
The sugar simply acts as an exfoliator,
the granules are rough enough to remove any dead skin but gentle enough to stop
you from causing further damage.
Honey
Honey has antimicrobial properties,
which means it promotes healing and will prevent against infections. It is also
one of the best ingredients for moisturising.
Olive oil
Olive oil has been used for medicinal
purposes for many years and is fantastic for your lips, it is actually used in
many moisturising products so is great to add to this lip scrub.
1 tbsp organic coconut oil
2 tsp coarse sugar
1 tsp honey
1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Mix all the ingredients together
and keep in a seal able small pot. If you enjoy this homemade exfoliator why not
think about making one, alongside a homemade lip balm as a present for someone
this Christmas. If packaged in a cute mini glass jar with Christmas ribbon, these will go down a storm! It will also save you a huge amount of money on
presents and shows that you've put effort into making something unique.

Smokey eyes- Black VS Brown
Left is black smokey eye and right is brown. |
I’m going to attempt to answer a huge debate in beauty
history, whether to do a black or a brown smoky eye!! Before I tell you about
my preference it’s important to remember that everyone is different and what
one person loves another may hate, not only that but our skin colourings are
all so different, and people suit different colours.
I used to rock the black smoke every day, but over the last
year and a half I have converted to brown. This doesn't mean I don’t ever wear
black smokey eyes, (in fact I prefer this look for nights out ,as it is more
dramatic) I've just have grown accustom to my beloved brown eye. It’s a softer
look for daytime, makes my eyes appear larger and is easily transferable into
an evening look just by applying more colour on top of the day makeup.
Uninterrupted and Carbon |
How to Brown smokey eyes
1.
Apply a brown eyeliner along both the lower and
upper lash line, this doesn’t have to perfect as it will be blended out, you
can use a gel or pencil for this. I use Bobbi Brown long wear gel eyeliner in
espresso Ink, (this is a black brown) great for creating intensity.
2.
Blend the eyeliner outwards to the corner of
your eye. Make sure to work quickly as this product becomes transfer resistant
once dry.
3.
Next take a light brown shade, such as Mac Uninterrupted, and a Mac 217 brush, blend this shade into the crease of your eye, then take it underneath your lower lash
line, making sure to blend fully.
4.
Now take a darker shade such as Mac Charcoal Brown and push the product
into the outer crease of your eye, try to concentrate on a small area rather
than washing it all over the eyelid.
5.
Now curl
your eyelashes and apply 2 coats of your favorite mascara- I used Girogio
Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara.
To create a black smoky eyes use the same step by step guide
but replace the Bobbi Brown eyeliner in Espresso ink to Black Ink, and swap the
Mac eyeshadow to Carbon.
If you wanted to make this look more subtle for the daytime
you can skip the eyeliner all together which I sometimes do.
Let me know which is your favourite in the comments below

Cracked China
It would be rude not to do a
Halloween tutorial!! Unfortunately I've never warmed to Halloween in fact I used
to be petrified of it as a kid. Think its time I grew up and
had fun with it, so, today I'm going to show you how to create this look (see
above.)
Its actually pretty simple and also highlights the
difference between makeup and no makeup, especially if you look at the size
difference of my eyes (oh jeez.)
1.
Begin by apply a matte foundation to the area
that you don’t want to be white, before contouring heavily (this looks best).
2.
Next work
on the eye creating a really dramatic effect. I used my normal makeup, for black
smoky eyes, which is Mac eye shadow in Carbon and Bobbi Brown long wear gel eyeliner in Jet Black.
3.
Now apply bright red lipstick (Rouge D'Armani) to the part of the
lip you want to have makeup on.
4.
Apply white face paint to the area without
makeup, take it down the neck and over the eye, perhaps do a couple of coats to
make sure it’s really intense and then leave to dry.
5.
Finally draw a jagged black line around your
face with face paint or black liquid eyeliner; this will act as the outline,
continue by applying crack lines.
This is so simple and looks awesome!! Have a go and let me
know what you think!

Pumpkin Power-Masks
It’s the build-up to Halloween, a seasonal event that I’m never really that excited for. One thing I do love to get involved in is the pumpkin carving, in the past I've created some pretty amazing designs. Pumpkins are not just great for carving and eating, (Pumpkin Pie mmm,) but also are extremely beneficial for your skin, perfect for making into face masks.
Pumpkin is high in Vitamin A (skin healing), C
(anti-oxidant) and Zinc, the pumpkin soothes, moisturizes and acts as a
carrier, allowing any other ingredients in the mask to really penetrate the
skin. It is great for all skin types, especially environmentally damaged or
sensitive skin. I decided to create 3 different masks one for dry skin, one for
oily skin and one glowing face mask which can be used on all skin types!!
Pumpkin face mask for oily skin: Canned pumpkin, (check that
pumpkin is the only ingredient), 1 tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar, (tonic
action promotes skin circulation; alpha hydroxyl acid; regulates pH,) and
lastly sugar (to help remove dead skin and unclog the pores.)
Face mask for oily skin |
Hydrating Pumpkin facemask: Canned pumpkin, (check that
pumpkin is the only ingredient), half an avocado, (contains rich source of
several essential nutrients that relive and moisturize your skin), and coconut
oil, (fatty acids in the oil can strengthen the skin's barrier to lock in
moisture.)
Hydrating face mask |
Glowing Pumpkin Face Mask: Canned pumpkin (check that
pumpkin is the only ingredient), Egg whites of 1 egg, (brightens the skin,)one-quarter
teaspoon milk, (or soymilk)(alpha hydroxyl acid, enzymes digest skin cells) and pumpkin seeds (for decoration.)
Glowing face mask |
I used a third of a can of pumpkin for each mask and had a
lot left over. You could refrigerate any
leftovers and use them as morning masks to wake up the skin with a burst of
coldness, (help settle puffy skin.) Important to note that the mask was hard to apply, but once on stayed on well,(perhaps you could use a paint brush and paint it on.) Also you can use the pumpkin which is leftover from your carving session, to create these masks, simply blend the inwards of the pumpkin and add the other ingredients.
God, I look good, ha! |
I only applied the mask for my skin type which is oily. I left the mask on for
30 minutes, to allow it to work its magic!! I have to say the result was surprisingly
good, my skin felt fresh and cleansed but most importantly in the morning my
skin had improved, noticeably less oil and fewer spots and masks! I normally
favour products over natural ingredients, but after this experience I think I’m
going to incorporate more natural home remedies into my skincare routine.
Try these masks out and let me know what you think!!
Do you use natural home remedies in your skincare routine?

anything else, please let me know by commenting below!

Ciate Advent Calender
Being a winter born baby, means that the Christmas period is
really the most important time of the year!! I treasure every minute of it, and
love sticking to Christmas traditions. One of my favourite traditions whilst
growing up was the Advent Calendar, although considering that all you get is
one small chocolate each day, the excitement on the first of December is kind
of ridiculous and absurd. Over the years I've kept up the advent tradition, but the last couple of years I've been trying
to make more of an effort to “eat clean, stay lean.” This doesn't mean I shun
chocolate out of my life, sadly however, it means having one a day would
probably through me off track... This is where I introduce the alternative Calendar!!
Ciate Mini Mani Month
Last year I was very fortunate to receive the Ciate Mini
Mani Month calendar from my mummy, (she is the best!) Chocolate addicts BEWARE,
this calendar is not edible, however you can pick up a cheap chocolate calendar
in Tesco’s for less than a fiver, so if you can’t stand parting from the sugar,
why not have both!!
You've probably heard of Ciate, through their creation of
the caviar manicure, (a 3d manicure with colourful balls.) If you haven’t tried
their nail varnishes, then I really recommend checking them out. The brand
creates amazing pigmented colours and come in super sweet packaging, with
little bows around the neck of the bottle.
The calendar opens each day to reveal a new mini polish, caviar pearl or glitter, last year
I decided upon opening each day of the calendar, I would wear whatever polish I
was given for that specific day. This
meant I spent a whole month of changing my nail polish, slightly tiring but so
worth it!! The amount of comments I received on my nails was insane. It just
seemed like fun to incorporate my favourite thing (beauty) into my favourite
time of year! The pictures I've included
are of last year’s calendar and I tried to locate as many of the polishes and
caviar pearls as I could, to give you an idea of the colours involved, (seemed
to have lost a large amount booo.)
This year’s calendar contains:
19x5ml mini paint pots
1x13.5 paint pot
2x 10g caviar pearls
2x5g sequins/glitters
Priced at £42, which does sound pretty pricey for an advent calendar,
however if you think about it, you receive 24 nail polishes/pears/glitters and also
a way to have fun with your nail polishes, by changing it up every day for the Christmas
period!! Personally this calendar rocks…. I definitely found it more exciting
to find a gorgeous nail varnish behind the door instead of chocolate.
You can buy the Ciate Mini Mani Month calendar online here.
Make sure to buy it in advance of the 1st of
December as they sold out last year!!
Did you buy the Ciate Mini Mani Month calender last year? What did you think?
If you have any questions please comment!

English Rose
After spending a fabulous lazy afternoon in bed flicking
through magazines for new beauty trends, I came across this look, reminiscent
of an English rose that was featured on the catwalk at the Burberry
show for spring/summer 2014. It immediately reminded of my childhood,
rummaging through my mother’s makeup bag and applying her Chanel pink lipstick,
not so carefully to my lips, eyelids and finally drawing two pink
army stripes across my cheeks. I know what you’re thinking, that kid
had style and whilst I may have looked bonkers to my family, it seems the look
is back in, although in a matured sense.
Unlike the masterpiece I created 15 years ago, the
pink I used was less dramatic, as I wanted to create something that would
be befitting for a ballerina. I used Maybelline, Color Sensational
lipstick, in Summer Pink, as its fresh, pretty and has a slight shimmer to it
which helped to achieve a glowing complexion.
Lighter shade is Maybelline Color Sensational in Summer Pink. Darker shade is an example of the type of colour I stole from my mothers makeup bag 15 years ago to create my princess in pink look! |
My everyday makeup normally consists of contouring my face
and wearing a nude lip, (boring, but me!) I choose nudes over pinks, out
of personal preference; my skin tone is better suited to brown hues. Being a
beauty enthusiast means that you've got to try new things and pink
eyes and lips was apparently was one of them!
Step by Step Instructions
1. First apply a glowing foundation, or just conceal areas
if you are blessed with flawless skin.... (Lucky cow.)
2. Next take a gel/cream eye shadow in a light pink shade or
the lipstick you are going to use and apply all over the lids, making sure to
blend fully, applying a little at a time, building up to the desired shade.
It's better to have too little product and build then apply too much at once
and end up looking like a clown.
3. Apply a lengthening mascara being careful to avoid
clumps.( this is a very delicate, natural look.)
4. Apply a moisturising lip balm, then chose a lipstick that
best matches the colour used on your eyes, or use the lipstick you used on your
lids. Apply this lipstick with your finger to create a stain and not a perfect
lined lip.
5. Finally use the same shade of lipstick and apply onto the
apple of the cheeks, blending with your fingertips, (remember a little goes a
long way.)
You should be left with a healthy glowing complexion that is
pretty and subtle. Although I'm not used to wearing pinky shades, especially on
my eyes, I’m impressed by the overall effect, I look awake, healthy and my
makeup appears natural. I’m still in amazement that you can use one
product, costing £7.19, for 3 different functions, to create one beautiful on
trend look.
What do you think of this trend?
Do you use any other products in more than one way?
If you have any questions comment below and I will get back
to you ASAP!
